* Voldemort is coming to Bruges! And Mad-Eye Moody too! And apparently, so is Fleur Delacour! (Article in Dutch - basically, there's this dark comedy being shot in Bruges, called, very fittingly, "In Bruges", and they're asking for extras.) I'm very tempted... But I won't be able to make it for the shooting, I'm afraid. But a movie which has both Ralph Fiennes and Brendan Gleeson... (and Colin Farrell too, if that tickles your fancy.) I'll definitely be seeing it, that's for sure.

*Gacked from [info]celandineb : A food meme )

If you feel like doing it, consider yourself tagged!

* Yesterday in the news: a boy in Iraq gets accidentally hanged while re-enacting Saddam's hanging with his friends. (If anyone can provide me with the link, I'd be grateful - can't seem to find it.) This is why I get so terribly angry whenever people say Saddam got what was coming to him. I'm sure he deserved to be punished (after a full trial, but that's another discussion), but does it really have to be shown on tv in such terrible detail? The boundaries between fact and fiction are so thin these days, I have to remind myself that it's the actual end of a human being I'm witnessing. And it creeps me out.

I've set myself a New Year's Resolution (already!): I'm going to learn how to cook. And because I know myself and I don't usually keep my resolutions any longer than the 3rd of January, I've started to practice already. Pity my boyfriend, who is subject to my experiments! (Poor dear - he turns green every time I remind him of the fact that I do have access to arsenic and the likes. As if my dishes in themselves aren't bad enough!)

So now I'm looking for easy stuff (nothing too fancy yet, I've been known to let water burn) on a student budget. Lo and behold the things I already tried out:

Risotto )

Chinese chicken with egg fried rice and peas )

Tonight, we'll be attempting to prepare spaghetti for seven people. If I survive the Attack of the Tomatoes (tm), I'll be sure to let you know how it went. (In Lyon, I just let my roommate prepare it, while I looked on and entertained the guests. I fear it won't be as smooth a ride this time...)
